Masonic Assistance Program Endowment

The Masonic Assistance Program has been providing financial assistnace for the uninsured and underinsured Masons as well as other kinds of support to Masons and their families in need of medical care since 2001.

To ensure a dependable source of funding for the program, Advocate Charitable Foundation has created the Masonic Assistance Program Endowment. Endowment funds are kept separate from other funds and are invested to generate revenue to support the program. Because only investment earnings are tapped, and never the principle, the endowment will provide flexibility in times of financial promise and stability when financial velnerability is high.

Ways to make a gift

The simplest way to support the Masonic Assistance Program Endowment is to make an outright gift of cash. A variety of giving vehicles are available, however, to help you meet your financial and philanthropic goals. These include:

a:

Charitable Gift Annuities

You make a gift ($5,000 minimum) of assests such as cash, stock that has increased in value or matured savings bonds for the benefit of the Masonic Assistance Program Endowment. In return you get a tax deduction, and you and/or someone you choose will also receive fixed, annual payments for life. (Persons receiving payments must be at least 60 years old when payments begin, and deferring payments until a later date will secure a higher rate of return.)

b:

Bequests

You can make a future gift that costs you nothing now by including the Masonic Assistance Program Endowment in your will or living trust. Bequests may be of cash, securities, real estate or other property. Bequests of all sizes are welcome. If you desire to specify a particular or restricted use, we will work with you to prepare language that reflects your goals. Your bequest should be directed to Advocate Charitable Foundation, which accepts gifts on behalf of all Advocate hospitals, funds and programs.

The following language may be useful to your attorney:

Specific Bequest: "I give Advocate Charitable Foundation, Park Ridge, Illinois, 60068, the sum of $________ to be used by the Advocate Illinois Masonic Medical Center for the Masonic Assistance Program Endowment."

Residual Bequest: "I give Advocate Charitable Foundation, Park Ridge, Illinois, 60068, ______ percent of the residue of my estate to be used by Advocate Illinois Masonic Medical Center for the Masonic Assistance Program Endowment."

Contingent Bequest: "In the event that ______________ does not survive me, I give Advocate Charitable Foundation, Park Ridge, Illinois, 60068, the sum of $_______ (or, alternatively, ____ percent of the residue of my estate) to be used by Advocate Illinois Masonic Medical Center for the Masonic Assistance Program Endowment."

The Masonic Assistance Program Endowment is...

...Giving

Every year, part of the investment earnings go to support the needs of the Masonic Assistance Program

...Growing

Since only a portion of the earnings are used, the endowment will likely increase in value - and impact

...Glowing

This endowment provides an ongoing legacy and promotes the values we hold dear.
